No sé si era de esta canción, pero creo que Pez Rabioso había puntualizado una cosa bastante interesante de este tema:
El aire de la música en cuanto a esperanza y nitidez es inversamente proporcional a lo que dice la letra
Es una canción rara, porque yo no me arriesgaría a afirmar que su letra es de desesperanza. Por ahí sí confusión...
Creo que plasma una tristeza y una incertidumbre insondables, tan insondables como el vacío que puede extenderse más allá del borde del mundo (ese "edge of the world"). Y creo que lo logra de forma muy sencilla, con bellísimos saltos de escala, en particular al final: de una escala cósmica, absoluta, a algo tan sencillo y trivial como una sonrisa.
Las sonrisas no son triviales. :D.
